Whether you’re an adventurer at heart, a nature lover or a family looking for an unusual swim, you don’t have to go far from Le Creusot to enjoy the pleasures of the water.

The lakes of Torcy and Montaubry are real little corners of paradise close to the town. Epicureans and idlers alike can enjoy a convivial picnic or a quiet siesta on the shady banks.

Dreamers, romantics and photography enthusiasts, discover the lakes of Torcy and Montaubry in the morning sunlight or at dusk. The fog and mist that float over these lakes reveal a mystical light and enchanting atmosphere.

A true oasis of freshness for Creusot residents, Lac de Torcy is appreciated for its wild, peaceful setting on the outskirts of the city. This vast 120-hectare lake lends itself equally well to the pleasures of water sports (stand-up paddle, canoeing, windsurfing, etc.) and to the joys of a family picnic, a romantic stroll or a solo jog.

Approved for international competitions, Lac de Torcy regularly hostsrowing competitions, including the French championships. The sport can be practiced freely or through the Club Nautique Creusotin. Renowned for its many titles and medals in French and international championships, this nautical club is a living testimony to the industrial and social adventure of Le Creusot. Created in 1902 by the management of the Schneider et Cie factories, the Club Nautique Creusotin was established to promote the well-being of its employees through swimming and jousting.

Lake Montaubry

a haven of freshness

A 128-hectare reservoir, Lac de Montaubry is located in the commune of Le Breuil, near the Canal du Centre and the Creusot-Montceau TGV station. Surrounded by greenery, it’s a peaceful place to take full advantage of the beautiful Plage des Patins and enjoy a day at the water’s edge with the whole family.

On the program: supervised swimming (depending on the year) and thrills. This popular setting is ideal for stand-up paddling, windsurfing, wakeboarding (provided you have your own equipment) and water skiing.

A 15-kilometer path winds around the pond, offering a pleasant stroll in an exceptional natural setting. The wooded site and the lake make it particularly attractive to sports enthusiasts and lovers of water sports. An exceptional place for pedal-boating and water-skiing.

Water skiing in Montaubry

Sheltered from the wind, Lac de Montaubry’s water quality is ideal for water-skiing, making it an extremely popular venue for competitors from all over the world.

Several League Cups and French and Swiss Water Ski and Barefoot Championships have already been held here.

Founded in the 60s and renowned for having trained numerous champions, the Ski Nautique Club de Montaubry invites you to discover all the towed activities on offer in spring and summer (end of May to September).
