Around ceramics

in Ecuisses

The “Around Ceramics” walk takes you through the charming village of Écuisses, along roads and farm tracks. It takes you close to the Villa Perrusson, an old middle-class residence dating from the late 19th century, and the Perrusson-Desfontaines working-class housing estate, while taking advantage of the Voie Verte (Green Way) which runs alongside the Canal du Centre.

Don’t miss the many ceramic decorations on the facades.

Balade Champêtre du Perreuillois

The village of Perreuil is a fine example of 19th-century architecture, with its neo-classical town hall, neo-Romanesque church and neo-Gothic school. The walk takes you along wooded or hilly paths to the various hamlets, where you’ll discover a diverse heritage and remarkable views over the surrounding countryside.

Not to be missed: the commune’s beautifully renovated wash-houses.

in Saint-Sernin-du-bois

Saint-Sernin-du-Bois, classified as a Cité de Caractère de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, bears witness to several centuries of history: remains of the Roman road from Autun to Mâcon, an 11th-century priory, a 14th-century keep and a dam from the early 20th century.

The Heron walk is an easy, family-friendly stroll along the floor of the Mesvrin valley. Walk along the river and then up near the hamlet of Les Petits, and you’ll discover a picturesque panorama of the village and surrounding area.

Around Brando

in Saint-Pierre-de-Varennes

Saint-Pierre-de-Varennes, a commune north-east of Le Creusot, covers more than 2,300 hectares and is home to numerous small hamlets. The Château de Brandon, on the hill, and its pond are to be discovered on this loop, where you’ll pass through soothing places endowed with pretty seasonal colors. The lucky ones will have the chance to meet the grey heron on the banks of the pond.

Don’t miss the pretty hamlet of Les Charbottins, at the end of the pond.
